A blonde mahogany-framed bergère chair, featuring a caned seat back and a red leather seat pad, in the manner of Danish architect Bernt Pedersen. The bergère chair, originating from 18th-century France and characterized by its exposed wooden frame, gained popularity among British furniture designers during the 19th and 20th centuries. This design gradually became a part of Danish furniture traditions, largely due to the influence of Kaare Klint. Klint’s 1914 Faabourg Chair exemplifies this design evolution with its rounded back and open frame, a style also evident in Pedersen’s rendition of the classic French bergère. This style was further popularized by Danish designers and manufacturers, cementing its place in Danish design history.
