Designed in 1972 by Italian duo Werther Toffoloni and Piero Palange for Germa, the ‘Hoop’ armchair showcases a striking geometric frame that enhances its sculptural presence. The structure is composed of bent, cylindrical wooden elements, while the seat and backrest are upholstered in white canvas, secured through lacing beneath the seat. A distinctive feature of this design is its high, egg-shaped backrest, which offers ample support for a comfortable seating experience. The extended armrests further contribute to the chair’s unique aesthetic. Characterized by simplicity, clarity, and a lack of ornamentation, this piece exemplifies architectural minimalism.
