Super rare and high-end sideboard designed by Rudolf Bernd Glatzel for Fristho Franeker, made of rosewood and metal, Netherlands, 1962.
A very well-crafted highboard with lovely proportions. The four door storage unit’s floating effect is enhanced by the elegant brushed metal and rosewood base. The veneered doors have a stunning graphical pattern, and the base and details are of high quality. There are several drawers and adjustable shelves on the credenza.
Fristho (1921-1978) was a Dutch manufacturer from the north of the country. The company was founded by Jean Baptist Merckx and Gustaaf Andries de Vries. They had a good sense of style and early on adopted both Scandinavian and American design. Fristho advertised themselves as “No. 1 in Nordic design” in the 1960s. Fristho was also influenced by Dutch functionalism.
