‘Konkylie’ lamp by Louis Weisdorf for Lyfa 1963
The Konkylie pendant, designed by Louis Weisdorf in 1963 for Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen and produced by Lyfa, is one of the most iconic Danish lighting designs of the mid-20th century. Composed of twelve curved metal lamellae forming a sculptural, shell-like silhouette, the lamp conceals its bulb within the interior that casts a warm, atmospheric glow, while the exterior reflects light in striking ways whether lit or unlit. This particular example, crafted in brass with a beautifully aged patina, embodies both the timeless elegance and rarity of the design, making it not only a functional light source but also a sculptural centerpiece and a highly collectible piece of Scandinavian modernism.
